A report indicates Apple is set to pursue more “thinner” iPads and other products, including iPhones, following the launch of the latest iPad Pro.
It is thought to be the slimmest device ever introduced by the Cupertino-based tech giant, even compared to the iPod Nano. The upcoming iPhone 17 is also mooted to follow the same path. It will not be available until next year, while the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch are also set to continue the slimline trend, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Apple is focused on a much skinnier phone in time for the iPhone 17. It’s also working to make the MacBook Pro & watch thinner. The plan is for the latest iPad to be the start of a new class of devices that are the thinnest/lightest in their categories. https://t.co/ED9BDWgDG4

This development represents a change in direction for Apple. For the last few years, the company has moved away from reducing the dimensions and stature of its products, despite the ever-evolving need for innovation and improvement.
Now, slimmer and lighter is the aim of Gurman’s newsletter, suggesting the recent arrival of the new Apple iPad Pro, which “sets the stage for thinner iPhones and other devices.”
This release marks “a return to form” for the iPhone maker. It shares the same battery life as its predecessor, but thanks to the M4 chip, it is stacked to deliver further advances and features.
New Class of Apple Devices
Laptops and smartwatches, such as the recent MacBook Pro and the Apple Watch Ultra, have had a thicker appearance. The battery is a key component of its dimensions. Still, the build of the iPad Pro appears to be extended to other products in the Apple family.
Slimmer yet more powerful is an attractive proposition for the tech multinational. Gurman relayed that the plan is to convert the latest iPad Pro into a new class of Apple devices that should be the thinnest and lightest products in their categories across the whole tech industry.
Apple’s advances will see the company make a renewed push for its devices to dominate the market and capture the consumer’s imagination.
